Welcome to FizziQ Anthracite

We’re excited to introduce FizziQ Anthracite, our brand-new version, available today for all beta testers. It’s a major update, with many improvements for you to explore, test, and most importantly: tell us what you think. The final version will be released in early June. Our goal remains the same: to make FizziQ an ever more inspiring tool for doing science in schools.

A Brand-New Technical Foundation

You might not notice it right away, but it changes everything going forward: FizziQ has been fully migrated to the latest versions of Flutter, Dart, and Swift.

This allows us to maintain the app over time, more easily roll out new features… and soon offer a web version of FizziQ, expected this summer.

A Much More Powerful Spreadsheet

The new spreadsheet has been completely redesigned from the ground up:

  • Smoother and more readable,

  • More columns, more freedom,

  • Handy functions like DERIVE() (for calculating tangents),

  • Built-in statistics,

  • Dynamic graphs with various fits (linear, exponential, logarithmic, etc.).

LaTeX in Text Fields

You can now enter math formulas directly into text fields, with clean and structured LaTeX rendering. Perfect for student reports and explanations.

A (Colorful) Calculator!

A scientific calculator is now available — simple to use but connected to the lab notebook. It’s accessible from the Tools menu.

AI Comes to FizziQ

With Ask FizziQ, we’re introducing a first version of an AI-based assistant. Its goal: to help students better structure scientific reasoning, analyze results, or simply understand the phenomena they observe.

In this beta version, we’ve included several lightweight AI models, chosen for their low cost and fast execution. They’re not the most advanced on the market, but they’re powerful enough to guide thinking, suggest analyses, or support scientific reasoning.

We’re still exploring what role AI should play in the classroom, and this experiment is a way for us to gather your feedback and better understand what you expect in an educational context.

PDFs They'll Want to Share

PDF exports have been completely redesigned. You can now:

  • Organize pages in columns,

  • Get a layout that mirrors the lab notebook,

  • Generate clean, professional documents ready to print or share.

Bluetooth Radio Is Here

With Bluetooth Radio mode, there’s no need to pair FizziQ Connect sensors anymore — data can be received automatically, even by multiple smartphones at once.

We also took the opportunity to:

  • Add compatibility with new sensors,

  • Include support for the popular HM-10 Bluetooth module.

By Theme or by Instrument? You Choose

We’ve been asked this a lot. Now, it’s up to you: you can organize FizziQ’s home screen by instruments or by themes, depending on what makes the most sense for your activities.

Go to Settings > Preferences.

And Also…

A few other improvements you’ll find in this version:

  • Experimental protocols can be embedded directly into the lab notebook,

  • Up to 5 simultaneous data streams from the kinematics module (vs. 3 before),

  • Automatic saving of user preferences,

  • Option to convert old tables (enable in settings),

  • A smoother Duo mode,

  • On iPhone, ambient light estimation from camera exposure,

  • And many other improvements we’ve already forgotten about…

We need You !

FizziQ Anthracite is a key version. It opens up new possibilities, while staying true to what makes FizziQ great: a simple, reliable, and educational science tool. We can’t wait to hear your feedback, ideas, and questions. It’s thanks to you that the app keeps evolving.
